It's time to ask for help

The ones in need

You, the one crying herself to sleep
The one starting to believe she's nothing
You have to know that deep,
Deep down, inside of you, there are wings
That you just need to learn how to use
You are worth living, without being abused

You, the one trying to escape hell
The one who always feel rejected
See how much you're affected
And start breaking your shell
With who you truly are
And never stop believing in who you are

You, the one always having a bruise
The one getting used to it
The one blaming himself a bit
You clearly never even choose
To live the way you have to
But now, it's time for you to ask for help too

You, the one who always hide her scars
It's time for you to stop hiding
And start living
Break the walls to see the stars
I know it's really hard
But you might go forward

If you recognized yourself into that poem, we think you should ask for help. Nobody should ever feel or live like that. We know you probably don't know where to go, but you can start with us, or your friends and family.

How to stop being bullied

Have you ever been bullied? Have you ever had to face lack of respect? Do you have difficulty to say no? We have some good news for you : we are here to help you.  In this article, we will talk about some tips about how to set effective boundaries and avoid getting bullied. Please notice that they are not placed in a specific order.

  • The first tip is to admit your personal limits. Indeed, it is very important to acknowledge your own limits in order to be able to respect your engagements and do a good work. Thus, do not offer your help for something you won't be able to do or you won't have time for. It will help you have more confidence in your capacities and skills.
  • The second one is practice limit-setting on small things. Indeed, it will be a lot easier to start with smaller things and then gradually learn to do it on every aspect of your life. This is an important rule to respect, because it will really help you to know what you are comfortable or not to do. So, find and acknowledge your own limits.
  • The third tip is to start spending time with people that respect your limits, because if you spend most of your time with people that don't, you will feel miserable and ''manipulated'' by them. Therefore, choose wisely your friends, because you will not pull them up, but they will probably pull you down.
  • The fourth one is to learn how to listen to your body. If you feel tired, stunned, unable to concentrate, painful, etc. there is certainly something going wrong with you. So take a break to breathe, take a nap, do some yoga or meditation, listen to some relaxing music or whatever makes you feel good. This will make you feel and look fresher, and then you will be able to do what you have to.
  • The fifth one is pay attention to your body language. In fact, this is maybe one of the most important tip of this article, because the bullies generally take on ''easy'' victims. So held your head high and believe in yourself. Always remember that you are (really) great.
  • The sixth one is to develop your self-esteem. Indeed, this is the most important tip because even if someone ridicule you, you will know that you're not a fool, that you don't deserve that.
  • The seventh tip is to tell somebody. NEVER keep quiet. This will just make the situation worse than it was, without any doubt. On the other hand, if you talk about it, you will probably get help from someone. Also, keep in mind that if you don't tell anyone, the bully will feel that he/she has control on you and he/she will continue. Don't feel ashamed for asking help, we all need help from others.
  • Finally, the last one is to learn to follow your intuition. If you feel that you shouldn't do something, don't do it. Even if everyone is doing it, even if it's cool. Listen to yourself, because you are the only one who knows what is good for you.
In conclusion, if I had to summarize this whole article in one sentence it will be : ''Learn to respect yourself.'' Always remember that you do not deserve to be bullied and that you are a very good and important person. You matter! You matter to your parents, teachers, friends, and you also matter to us ;) . So, take care and stay gold!
